10 Minutes of Physical Self-Care

Physical self-care is the aspect of self-care that is most often discussed and honestly is the most likely to cause shame. Often, the focus of physical self-care is eating better and exercising more. We all know we should be exercising and eating better; hearing it over and over doesn’t make us more likely to do it.

I think a more helpful physical self-care practice is anything that helps us connect back to our bodies, promoting more appreciation and care for the physical aspects of our well-being. When I first became curious about approaching physical self-care this way, it felt obvious to me to try yoga. I found the YouTube channel Yoga with Adriene. Not only are her classes free and accessible, she has a phrase that has come to mean a lot to me: Find what feels good. Moving our bodies can be the practice of finding what feels good.

Below is a video from Adriene for 10 minutes of self-care that I have returned to again and again.
